Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense don’t scare anyone, said former NFL wide receiver-turned-into-T.V.-analyst Nate Burleson, because the team’s offense is completely focused around the tight end, he added before the Chiefs play the Bills.

While going over film on the Chiefs’ offense in their last game against the Green Bay Packers, Burleson – a member of the Seattle Seahawks’ 35th Anniversary team said on NFL on CBS: ‘You know what I noticed in those plays… when you see Travis Kelce running around, there’s multiple guys near him. ‘You’re gonna bracket him, double him… they’re gonna have guys that are going to focus on Travis Kelce. Every single place. So the question is, if you take away Kelce, what happens to this offense? ‘I’m not sitting here trying to blame the wide receivers,’ clarified Burleson, a former wideout for the Vikings, Seahawks, Lions and Browns, as he added: ‘It’s not an easy job to be a complimentary player. I know that playing next to Rand Moss and Calvin Johnson. ‘But these receivers have to step up, because this offense is based around Travis Kelce opening it up. If you lock him down, and these guys can make plays, then this offense isn’t gonna go anywhere. That’s why this offense doesn’t scare anybody…’ With Kelce playing, the Chiefs have lost three of their last five games, falling to 8-4 and suddenly looking up at Baltimore and Miami in the AFC standings. What’s more is, that Kelce is just 10 days away from going over a month without a touchdown. His last one came in a 21-17 Chiefs loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on November 20. The last time he had over 100 yards in a game was in a 31-17 win against the L.A. Chargers on October 22.

He had 179 receiving yards in that game. Like the Bills, who are 6-6, Kansas City has a similar sense of urgency coming off their loss last Sunday in Green Bay. They squandered control of their own destiny when it came to the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and the AFC’s lone first-round bye, with the lackluster 27-19 defeat. ‘I’ve been on a team that was 6-4 and ended up winning the Super Bowl,’ Mahomes said. ‘We have confidence every week that we’re going to find a way to win. Obviously, these last few weeks we’ve lost a couple, but we still have that mindset.’ Unlike Buffalo, though, the Chiefs do not face anyone with a winning record the rest of the regular season. ‘We can’t lose three out of four, or three out of five. It’s a critical situation,’ Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones said, ‘especially where we’re trying to be in the next few weeks. We have to correct the errors, and we have to correct them fast.’
