Back in August, while visiting Lubbock, former Texas Tech football great Patrick Mahomes unveiled a secret adidas uniform that the Red Raiders would sport later in the season.
That uniform, which features Mahomes’ signature “Gladiator” logo, was publicly unveiled on Thursday.
Mahomes, adidas and Texas Tech unveiled the new Mahomes Strategy uniform. The uniform features a Dark Gray tackle swill with printed metallic films and Power Red accents.
According to the release, it is inspired “by the 45-degree bevel found across Texas Tech’s campus and the angular nature of Mahomes’ iconography, the helmet, logos and numbers displayed in a metallic fil with galvanized finishes.”
Texas Tech will wear the uniforms for the first time during the Nov. 9 home game in Jones AT&T Stadium against the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes.
“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat and tears in is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” Mahomes said in the release. “I want to thank the three-stripe life family for giving me this one-of-a-kind opportunity.”
The uniform is the latest investment the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has made into his alma mater.
Earlier this year, Texas Tech became a member of the adidas family when the university switched from Under Armour to adidas for its athletic apparel — a deal helped orchestrated by Mahomes, himself an adidas athlete.
