In a new interview published by the Kansas City Star on Friday, Sept. 26, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, shut down rumors that there could possibly be any lingering issues between him and Reid, 67.

“I love that guy, man,” the 1587 Prime Steakhouse co-owner said. “There’s nothing outside of this building that’s going to make me feel any different way. We know exactly each other’s intentions.”

“I think what Coach Reid does best is he challenges guys to be at their best, and I love that about him,” he continued. “It definitely helped me take my game to another level that game.”

Rumors that there may have been a riff started after Kelce and Reid got into a heated sideline confrontation just before halftime during the Sept. 21 game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

It also wasn’t the first time there was footage of the duo — who have won three Super Bowls together over the last five seasons — fussing splashed across televisions and social media.

The NFL star also made headlines when he notoriously sparred with Reid from the field during Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024.

Kelce isn’t the only one who claims he and Reid are good with one another. During a press conference on Thursday, Sept. 25, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones came to Kelce’s defense describing his teammate as a “fierce competitor.”

“Sometimes, in the heat of the battle, sometimes emotions show,” Jones explained of the most recent heated exchange between Kelce and Reid. “Sometimes we have confrontations, whether it’s with coaches, players… but I think it’s more out of competitive spirit.”

Jones added that all of his teammates and coaches “want the best” for the organization. “We all want to succeed. It’s the nature of this, it’s been like that since I’ve been here and I don’t think it’s going to change.” Kelce has also publicly rooted for Reid.
