And after popping the question to Taylor Swift last month, the Kansas City Chiefs revealed his advice for any others looking to reach that relationship milestone.

“You got to know your gal,” Travis said on the Sept. 3 episode of New Heights. “You got to know your gal or your significant other. You got to know them. You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way.”

While he noted it “may get the creative juices going” from looking at others’ proposals, it’s still all about knowing your person.

“Know your partner, know who you’re doing it for and do it for the right reasons,” Travis said. “Everything else will be beautiful.”

And like many fans, his older brother Jason Kelce is thrilled to be along for the ride of what’s to come.

“I cannot wait to hear more of the planning and everything that will take place,” he told Travis, to which the tight end replied, “It’s gonna go crazy.”

While wedding planning may be on the horizon, for now, Travis, who proposed in his backyard against a floral backdrop, is just soaking in the joy of being a fiancé

“I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something, and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on,” he said. “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with…It’s been awesome.”

And he’s loving showing off his bride-to-be ever since they announced the big news—including with a outing at his alma mater University of Cincinnati.
