Travis Kelce battled through the snow as he left his Kansas City mansion for practice on Friday. Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and his Chiefs teammates are preparing to play against the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday night.
But they will be forced to play in freezing cold conditions at Arrowhead Stadium as Kansas City continues to be bombarded by snow. When the game kicks off on Saturday night, temperatures are expected to be around zero degrees with a wind chill hovering around -30, according to the National Weather Service. That would be the coldest game the Dolphins, who are used to Florida’s warmer climate, have ever played in. They’ve lost 10 straight games when the temperature is 40 degrees or below at kick off.
Kelce ensured his trip to practice would not be affected by the weather, taking his enormously powerful $140,000 Hummer out for a spin. The tight end hasn’t played for almost two weeks after sitting out of the Chiefs’ final game of the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs had already secured their spot in the post-season and opted to rest starters like Kelce and Patrick Mahomes for their game in LA.
It remains to be seen whether or not Taylor Swift will fly into Kansas City to watch her boyfriend in action. The popstar was in attendance for both of Kelce’s games over the festive period. She watched them lose to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day but beat the Cincinnati Bengals on New Years’ Eve. Swift has been back in New York City but is not due to return to her smash-hit Eras Tour until next month, freeing her up to fly to see Kelce when she wants.
Chiefs officials were pictured working hard to clear the snow covering the area surrounding Arrowhead Stadium. Thousands of fans will descend on the iconic venue on Saturday night in the hope the Chiefs can embark on another run to the Super Bowl. Despite being an anticipated match-up, the Dolphins and Chiefs have both been struggling in recent weeks. Miami fumbled away an AFC East title by losing their last two games, while Kansas City have sleepwalked their way to a 4-4 post-bye record.
However, another Chiefs defeat – and early exit from the playoffs – could speed up Kelce and Swift’s potential engagement this summer. Reports claimed they decided to hold off over the holiday season out of fear it would seem like ‘rushed insanity’. According to Page Six, there is a feeling in Swift’s inner circle that she and Kelce are planning to get engaged this summer. Rumors of Kelce popping the question to Swift first began to circulate at the start of last month, with many speculating as to whether the Kansas City Chiefs star would propose on his girlfriend’s 34th birthday – which came on December 13.
