Travis Kelce Shares What Jason Told Him for Motivation This Super Bowl: ‘He Fired Me Up'

Travis Kelce is “fired up” for the Super Bowl thanks in part to his brother Jason Kelce! As the Kansas City Chiefs tight end looks to Sunday’s big game, he is crediting his big brother for his encouragement.

“He fired me up after that AFC championship game, telling me to go and get it and that we’re the best in the game,” Travis, 34, told reporters on Tuesday in Las Vegas. “Just having his support is all I need. Seeing him at the game, seeing him get excited, that’s everything.” After the Philadelphia Eagles’ postseason run was cut short, Jason made sure to pull up — and take his shirt off — at Travis’ divisional playoff game in Buffalo. One week later, the 36-year-old Eagles center was front and center in Baltimore to support the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

All of which differs from the Kelce boys’ collective Super Bowl experience last year, when the Chiefs faced Philly and the brothers became the first-ever siblings to play against each other in the NFL title game. “Last year was a special, special year for us,” Travis said Tuesday.

“If you’ve seen my brother’s documentary Kelce, you’ll see a lot why, and because of how tight and how close we were I always wanted to be at the mountaintop with my brother and it was always, when I visualized it, it was always playing with him in the Super Bowl.”

He added, “But playing against him, meeting him there was one of the most special moments of my life and I don’t know any moment will ever compare to being on top of the world, going against my brother like that.” As for this year’s game, Travis is keeping it all in perspective, while placing a priority on family. “At the end of the day were both our biggest fans and it’s been that way since we were kids,” he said.
